The T. Russell Reitz Animal Shelter provides service to Riley County, Pottawatomie County and the city of Manhattan.

The shelter does not provide service to the city of Riley, Junction City, Leonardville, Fort Riley or Ogden. There is an $80 surrender fee per animal from these areas.

The mission of the T. Russell Reitz Animal Shelter and Animal Control is to protect public health, welfare and property through enforcement of city and county laws and sheltering of unwanted companion animals, providing public education on the care of companion animals, and promoting humane treatment and responsible pet ownership.(785) 587-2783
